Annapurna Base Camp trek is popular for trekkers. This classic route in the Annapurna region is also called Annapurna sanctuary trek. A natural amphitheatre surrounded by some of the most spectacular Himalayan scenery with attractive peaks. While machhapuchhre- the fish-tail-peak and Annapurna south dominate the horizon at the beginning of the trek, Annapurna I. the principal peaks of the western portion of great Annapurna Himal, including Hinchuli, Annapurna South, Fang, Annapurna and Machhapuchhre, are arranged almost precisely in a circle about 10 miles in diameter with a deep glacier-covered amphitheater at the center. Form this glacier basin, known as the Annapurna sanctuary, the Modi Khola kniges its way south in a narrow gorge fully 12,000ft.deep. Further south, the gorge opens up into a wide and fertile valley, the domain of the local ethnic group, “Gurungs”.
